Zaccheus ambushes Jesus Christ
Luke 19 talks about a very short and richman who was not in right standing with God. Zaccheus was a sinner. He was working for the government yet, corrupt. However, his circumstances almost got on his way to prevent him from meeting Jesus Christ. He ignored his physical challenges and crafted a plan to surmount the problems. To see Jesus Christ was his objective that day. He could not allow people to either discourage or prevent him from seeing the Lord. Though he was rich, he RAN ahead of people to catch a glimpse of God by climbing a tree. Though it appeared ridiculous, considering his status in society, he was not moved. Zaccheus knew and set his objective, to see Jesus.
Who amongst us, pursues objectives right up to completion? Many of us today, craft objectives, resolutions and then ignore them. Zaccheus was different. Running ahead of a crowd to lay an ambush on Christ Jesus caught Jesus' attention. The amount of wisdom displayed moved Jesus Christ. The motive of Zaccheus ignited the Lord's love. I mean his faith made the Lord change his schedule. The Lord would pay him a visit that day. In the eyes of the crowd, Zaccheus did not deserve the visit. But who were they to judge? I could imagine Zaccheus whistling, 'when Jesus says yes nobody can say no'
Many today shun the Lord because of their sins. Some even commit suicide because of pride, inability to face their circumstances head on. Inability to swallow pride and work out relations with God. Zaccheus deliberately swallowed pride, did not consider his wealth as something above God. He was willing to amend relations with the community and God. He promised to pay back all those he had duped. Because of this conduct, the Lord was happy with him. He was willing to lose ill-gotten wealth because of Christ. He had found new treasure more valuable than stolen riches- Christ. How many are willing to lose, a job founded on corruption, a certificate acquired through forgery and a house built on people's blood?. Don't cling on sin. Trade your weakness for freedom in Christ.
2 Chronicles 7:14... if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.
Make your own ambush. Zaccheus' paid off.
