Deliverance Lessons
In the journey of faith as an Apostle of God, I learnt a few profound matters:
1. That deliverance requires patience from both parties, the deliverer(man of God) and the delivered (demon possessed victim). 1 Thessalonians 5:14 says, 'We urge you, to encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, and be patient with everyone'. For the deliverance to work, patience is required to be exercised to the afflicted. The deliverance task may appear like trouble to the man of God but it is not, after all Romans 12:12. says '..Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying'.
2. Demons are good at defocusing the deliverer to buy time to remain in their victim. In Acts 16: 16-17 a demon possessed slave girl attempted to defocus Apostle Paul until he was exasperated and commanded the demon to leave the girl.
3. During the process of deliverance, the victim may become weary physically and must be given time to recuperate without necessarily giving demons time to reorganize for a counter attack. The process may last several hours or days, depending on the prevailing grace. See Mark 9: 14-29
4. Deliverance sometimes comes as a process not an event. Jesus says, 'This kind can be cast out only by prayer and fasting 'Mark 9:29. This denotes that sufficient grace can be yielded, through prayer and fasting so as to enduce deliverance.
5. The word of God should be ministered to the victim during the lengthy process. Jesus was preaching in the Synagogue before he delivered a demon possessed woman, a daughter of Abraham who had been sick for 18 years. See Luke 13:10-13
6. The sinners prayer or the salvation prayer, can be administered several times into a victim depending with the resistance of the demons.
7. The best time for that prayer is when the victim has regained their mental balance.
8. Demons do not like the name, Jesus, take advantage!
